Splurge Change Up...

SoOoo... after doing a little more research I decided that I didn't want the Asus eee pc 900ha. LOL. Luckily, buydig.com didn't ship it yet so it was easily cancelled. I ended up ordering the Asus eee pc 1000ha instead. LOL.

It's basically the SAME specs... some slight differences is that the screen is 10" big instead of 8.9" big & the battery is a 6 cell battery instead of a 4 cell battery. Also, the keyboard is bigger, 92% the size of a normal size one so it's much easier to type on. All the bigger/more important specs (processor, ram, hard drive, etc.) are exactly like the 900HA.

I decided on the 1000ha instead because I plan on bringing this to school instead of my big laptop (it's a pain to lug around, plus there are CRAZY steep hills at my school & they are DEF not fun. LOL.) so I opted for the one with a more comfortable keyboard. =] Don't want my hands cramping up while I'm typing up notes in class. LOL.

It's still significantly smaller than my laptop now, so it's still an improvement in mobility... sure, not as portable as the 900 series... but I need to be able to type. LOL. People say that it's easy once you adjust... but I don't have the patience. LOL.

Oh yeah, one other difference that people have mentioned is that the screen is brighter on the 1000's than the 900's & the webcam installed on the 1000's are 1.3 megapixels while the 900's are 0.3 megapixels. So yeah, just a few minor differences. There is an in between model (the 904) that has the same body size as the 1000's, BUT the screen is still 8.9" (which is why it's still classified as a 900 model). So it's basically a 1000 body with a 900 screen. That was a turn off just cause the spaces between the screen & the casing was noticeabley big. LOL. I don't know, I guess I prefer my screen to fill up most of the case.

In this video this guy shows his two eee pc's. The smaller one is the Asus eee pc 900ha (the one I was originally going to get) & the Asus eee pc 1002ha. I didn't get the 10002ha like he did, but this video is just to show you how big the 1000 series is in comparison to the 900 series. The series first numbers represent the screen size btw (900 = 8.9" screen & 1000 = 10" screen). He also does a mini comparison between the two, for those of you who are interested.

Since mine is the lower end model of the 1000 series, mine doesn't have built in bluetooth. Mine also has an older wifi card that can't detect N wireless networks. Not a big deal for me. I'm pretty sure that I have a bluetooth dongle lying around here somewhere, & if not, my bf def does. LOL. You CAN install bluetooth inside of this netbook yourself but this voids the warranty... probably won't be doing this. LOL. You can also upgrade the wifi card inside yourself as well... but again, voids the warranty. However, changing out the RAM & hard drive DOES NOT void the warranty so I might upgrade the RAM later... just so youtube vids run a little better on it. Also, people have been having a hard time trying to find extended life batteries for the 900ha's & not the 1000ha's. I eventually want to buy an extended life battery because it definitely will end up making a difference. So that was another thing that turned me off about the 900ha. Other than that, I don't really plan on modding and/or upgrading anything.

The price difference was $44.00 dollars, so I ended up paying $337.90 for the Asus EEE PC 1000HA. Still not a bad price & worth the extra $44.00 for the size upgrade & small perks that come with having the 1000HA vesus the 900HA.

So yeah... that's all. I ordered the 1000HA today & already got a shipping notification. Freakn' fast! LOL. Can't wait to get it in.

Don't worry Jackie, I'll def bring it over so we can take pictures with our eee pc's and so you can take a gander at it. =] LOL.
