Product Information:
Coastal Scents Under Cover High Definition Foundation has arrived after 8 months of testing. A soft focus, flawless, natural finish is needed when under the scrutiny of a camera in HD. Our foundation applies with a light weight texture, a very small amount is needed to cover your skin.

With photography, film and live television using high definition focus, (meaning that the camera and monitor sees everything magnified), HD application has become a part of training for makeup artists in today’s industry. The colors need to stay consistent in all types of lighting, what does not work well in HD is sparkle and shine. Reach for matte bronzers, blush and shadows.

HD makeup is now obtainable to everyone, you also can reap the benefits of that HD flawless look, this is not just for makeup artists. It is important that your skin is prepared prior to application in order to achieve the HD finish. Practice gentle exfoliation and polishing of the skin; use a matte primer and non greasy/oily moisturizer; use a loose mineral or pressed matte finishing powder. The silicone in HD foundation helps to absorb your skins natural oils and helps fill in small lines. Remember, Sparkles and shiny skin will only attract the eye/camera to the flaws you want to conceal from it.
UnderCover HD is not oil based or water based, it is non comedogenic, it does not clog pores. HD foundations use silicone's, this creates a protective shield on the skin, allowing it to breathe and retain it's natural moisture.

Ingredients List: Water (Aqua), Cyclopentasiloxane, Talc, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Mica, Butylene Glycol, Dimethicone, Dimethicone Copolycol, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Lauroyl Lysine, Sodium Chloride, Fagus Sylvatica Extract, Hydrolyzed Yeast Protein, Propylene Glycol, Diazolidinyl Urea, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Proplyparaben. May Contain: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides. Made in PRC

Packaging: It has a pump! I LOVE that about this foundation. It makes things so much more sanitary and less messy.

Texture: This foundation isn't extremely thick or extremely runny, it's somewhere in the middle. It's not extremely runny but not extremely rich/thick.

Finish: This gives a satin finish which isn't extremely matte but not overly dewy. It does lean a tiny bit more on the dewy side. The silicones in this foundation make it act like it has a built in primer and gives a smooth/airbrushed appearance to skin without having to use a primer. I REALLY like that about this foundation.

Wearing Time: Wearing time is okay. It doesn't stay on all day like my Revlon Colorstay but lasts decently throughout the day. I'd say it'll last you around 6 - 8 hours of wear without touch ups.

Shades: If you have yellow or olive undertones you'll be happy with their color selection. The most common problem I find with foundations (especially drugstore foundations) is that their undertones are too beige or pink for me. I have a mix of olive, yellow, and peach undertones so as you can see beige and pink undertones don't really work for me. I'm actually pretty pleased with the way their foundation matches me.

Photographability: It causes a slight (VERY SLIGHT) cast in pictures with flash, but nothing nearly as bad as many other liquid foundations I've used. You can only really notice it when the flash is fairly strong/bright. Other than that, it photographs prettily. =]

Blendability: VERY easy to blend. It glides on the skin nicely and blends in effortlessly.

Feel of the Foundation On: EXTREMELY light. This has to be one of the lightest foundations I've worn to date. I don't notice when it's on, that's how light it is. I really enjoy this aspect of it, especially for use as a daily foundation.

Coverage: This foundation gives a light to medium coverage. DEFINITELY not full or heavy. I find that this coverage is great for day to day wear though, and the fact that the silicones do give you a nice smooth finish looks great during the day. It also looks much more natural since it does give a light to medium finish which allows some of your actual skin to show through. One quick layer will give a light coverage while layering it will give you medium coverage.

Breakouts: After using this foundation for 2 weeks straight I haven't had any breakouts, HOWEVER, I did get a couple of small whiteheads on my forehead, then again my skin really dislikes silicones. It will tolerate silicones every few days but not everyday. So if your skin dislikes or is sensitive to silicones, this might be something to consider before buying the foundation. If you still want the foundation, try to space out using the foundation every few days instead of everyday.

PROS: Great shade selection for people with yellow/olive undertones. Looks natural. Gives a nice airbrush/smooth finish without the need for primer. Feels very light while on. Fairly photograph friendly. Has a nice satin finish that is neither too matte or too dewy. Very easy to blend. Is cheaper than alot of high end foundations (i.e. MUFE, MAC, etc.)

CONS: Might not work for people who are sensitive to silicone based products. Is pricier than drugstore brand foundations (i.e. Revlon Colorstay, Maybelline, etc.) Could have a little more coverage, just a TINY bit more so that you'd get medium coverage with just one quick layer/application.

Overall: I like it, not LOVE it, but I REALLY do like it... ALOT. I REALLY REALLY like it for a day to day foundation but it's definitely not a foundation I would turn to for "HD" type things or for a "flawless" look.

Here are the pictures of me wearing Coastal Scents Undercover HD Foundation in "ST-05".

These next two pictures were taken without flash in natural light.

For Sale: Coastal Scents Undercover HD Foundation in shade "st-04"

Sunday, December 6, 2009

I bought this blindly and after receiving it I instantly knew that this shade definitely isn't my shade. LOL. I'd say st-04 suits people who are an NC25 - NC30, I'm more in the NC30 - NC35 range. =]

*SOLD*

Foundation looks a smidge dark in this picture, sorry about the that. Crappy lighting. =P Trust me, it should suit someone in the NC25-NC30 range. =P

This bottle is practically brand new and I've only pumped/swatched it ONCE after receiving it. It includes the original box it came with and the little organza bag. I'm selling it for $16.00 plus $3.00 for shipping within the US. If you prefer to have it shipped USPS priority it will cost $5.00, since I'll be using their flat rate box for priority shipping. This shade is currently sold out on the Coastal Scents website and like I stated is practically new.

Serious inquiries only. If you're interested, e-mail me at: misschristiana at gmail dot com.
I only accept payments via paypal. Thanks for looking!

Thank you for having a look but this item has already been sold! Thanks again to everyone who was interested.

Update & Gift: The Respiratory Therapist Program & My New Stethoscope

Wednesday, November 18, 2009

Another short but sweet entry. =] Just wanted to show you guys what my awesome bf got me as a gift. =D As the title entails, it's not make-up, clothing, accessory, etc. related. It's related to my major. If you've been reading my blog for a while, you'd know my major is Respiratory Therapy... if not... now you know. LOL. =] Many have mistaken my major for being nursing which it isn't, so I just wanted to clarify that. =D

So yeah, he got me this as a gift because listening to breath sounds is a VERY vital part of my bedside assessment, so I obviously need a decent piece of equipment for that. The bf kindly got me a stethoscope (of my choice) which included engraving on it for free! Not bad... he actually got a pretty decent deal on it considering it's a Littmann. Littmann brand steths are top quality/the gold standard for steths... think of it is as the MAC and/or MUFE of stethoscopes. Haha! I think that's a fair comparison. Anywho, without further ado... here's some pics of the steth! =]

Oh btw... this is the limited edition breast cancer awareness color, which obviously means the tubing is baby pink. =] I'm a sucker for pink & limited edition things. Hahaha. Too bad they don't have one with hot pink tubing, but then that would mean it's not tailored towards breast cancer awareness. LOL. The model stethoscope I got is the Littmann Classic II SE. =]

A picture of the stethoscope in it's box. I keep it in it's box when I'm not using it... I value it that much. Haha. =P

A close-up of the Diaphragm (a part of the stethoscope head)
Littmann Quality baby! w00t!

A close-up of the Bell (the part of the stethoscope head opposite to the diaphragm)
This steth has been branded & tailored specifically for me, LOVE IT! =]

He bought my stethoscope from www.medisave.net. That website does free engraving on ANY Littmann stethoscope that you purchase from them. =] Taking into account the price for the stethoscope, the engraving, & the shipping; this website has the best prices. =] Other websites will charge anywhere from $10 to $15 for engraving on top of the price for the stethoscope... OR have ridiculously high shipping costs. So this was the best deal I was able to find. =] Just an F.Y.I. for those of you who are in a medical program or will be starting a medical program and wanted to buy yourself a stethoscope. I also recommend that you DO get your stethoscope engraved, ESPECIALLY if it's a Littmann because they are kinda pricey and are known for being really good. Since all this is true and known, they tend to grow legs and "magically walk away". LOL. =P

So that's all. =] If anyone's been wondering how I'm doing in the program, I'm doing GREAT! =] I have an A average in all of my classes this semester. Not too shabby, especially after being out of school for a year prior. Ha. =] So yeah, just really busy... really tired... and really focused. That's the main cause for my hiatus. I will try to crunch in some "real" blogging during my holiday break... until then take care! =]
